Denali season has arrived! Today, our team kicked off their day with gear checks and a team meeting before gathering any last-minute items in Anchorage. From there, the team will drive 2 hours to Talkeetna, Alaska, known as the gateway to Denali, where they will meet with the climbing rangers from Denali National Park before setting off for North America’s tallest summit. The journey will take them about 20 days, and they will climb via the stunning West Buttress Route.

If you’re wondering more about the name Denali, it originates from the local Athabaskan Indigenous peoples and means The Great One. For all of us at CTSS and for climbers far and wide, there is no doubt that Denali is, in fact, the great one!
